WHAT DOES HONNINGCENTRALEN DO?

Honningcentralen SA was established in 1927 and is the beekeepers’ own company. We are a cooperative of small and large beekeepers from all over the country.

Some work with beekeeping as a hobby, while others have beekeeping as their main livelihood. What we have in common is that we want to develop the industry and stand stronger in the marketing, quality and sale of Norwegian honey.

The members deliver most of their honey to Honningcentralen, which sells the honey on to customers in grocery retail, food service and industry. The purpose of the company is to ensure the highest possible share of Norwegian honey on the market.

The head office is located in Birøktens Hus in Kløfta, approx. 20 minutes outside Oslo. At Honningcentralen we are only 16 employees, but with the bees’ work included, we can say that we are Norway’s largest workplace!

In addition to honey from Norwegian beekeepers, we also source maple syrup and very special honey varieties from other parts of the world.

You will find a selection of our products in all Norwegian stores. Honningcentralen is also a supplier of equipment for beekeepers.

Beekeepers who are members of Honningcentralen receive a discount on the purchase of equipment and foundation wax.

The most important statute we have as members of the cooperative is the obligation to deliver most of our honey to Honningcentralen SA.

Would you like to become a beekeeper? See here  how you can become a member.
